OUR TRUSTED PARTNER
Mr Kubilay, CEO of HK Veterinary Clinic, is responsible for the feeding and breeding of this farm. Due to his extensive knowledge of animal care, Mr Kubilay has played a vital part in the expansion of the farm’s collection of peafowl.
Breeding animals run in his family, starting from the South West of Turkey where his grandfather used to breed many types of animals including peacocks. As a boy Kubilay would play and communicate with peacocks, first trying to catch them and their eggs. Then getting closer to the peacocks he began to feed their babies.
Using this experience, as Kubilay grew older he began to study peacocks more and more from a scientific perspective and over several years has discovered many fascinating facts about peacocks. Here are a couple of wild and wonderful facts about the magnificent Peacock.
-
They can easily walk 3-11km per day depending on the season. That’s about 10,000 football fields!
-
They can peck 10-15,000 times a day with precision and that’s on an average day.
Taking this information in, imagine how many insects and seeds they can collect after walking up to 11k and pecking up to 15,000 a day and also plants. It shows that they need a substantial amount of protein to keep them happy and healthy.
TIP OF THE DAY
Communication is the foundation of a success life. If your animal is getting food from your hand and if they are responding to your voice then you have successfully completed this section.
